An awareness event centered around tree plantation took shape through a spirited bicycle rally, spanning from the Kallakurichi Fire Office to the Gomuki Dam in the Kallakurichi District of Tamil Nadu. The event, held on August 6, 2023, entailed a unique initiative where 15 volunteers mounted their bicycles to propagate the cause.
The rally’s distinctive approach involved the distribution of 500 seed balls, each containing native tree species, along the route from the Kallakurichi Fire Office to the Gomuki Dam. This scenic journey also encompassed the Thagarai Reserved Forest in collaboration with the Tamil Nadu Forest Department’s Gomuki Range.
With unwavering commitment, the volunteers pedaled their bicycles, symbolizing both environmental consciousness and community engagement. They simultaneously dispersed the seed balls, aiming to foster new growth across the forested terrain and the reservoir banks. This concerted effort sought to enrich the ecosystem and enhance green cover.
The collaboration with the Tamil Nadu Forest Department’s Gomuki Range underscored the event’s significance, reinforcing a sense of shared responsibility for preserving and nurturing the region’s natural resources.
