On February 8, 2022, a significant event named the “Clean-Up Activity” was organized by the “Kuyili” Organization in collaboration with the Forest Department and volunteers from the local community. This event took place at the Gomuki Viewpoint, located within the Gomuki Range of the Kalvarayan Hills in Kallakurichi.
The main objective of this event was to address the issue of waste accumulation in the natural environment and promote community involvement in its resolution. Gomuki Viewpoint, renowned for its panoramic beauty, had unfortunately become littered with plastic and glass bottle waste. The event aimed to restore the spot’s natural charm by gathering and appropriately disposing of this waste.
To raise awareness and mobilize participation, a rally was organized prior to the clean-up activity. The rally served as a call to action, inspiring individuals to come together for the betterment of their environment.
20 Volunteers from the local community, along with members of the “Kuyili” Organization and representatives from the Forest Department, worked tirelessly to clean up the Gomuki Viewpoint. The efforts undertaken by this collaborative team demonstrated the power of collective action in addressing environmental challenges.
By the end of the event, a substantial amount of plastic and glass bottle waste had been collected from the area, contributing to its revitalization and rejuvenation. Beyond the physical impact, the event also highlighted the importance of responsible waste disposal and the need to minimize our ecological footprint.
The “Clean-Up Activity” at Gomuki Viewpoint underscored the significance of community engagement in environmental conservation. By partnering with the Forest Department and local volunteers, the “Kuyili” Organization showcased their commitment to creating positive change. The event served as a reminder that every individual has a role to play in safeguarding the natural beauty of their surroundings.
